Lama

This song was written in Kathmandu, Nepal during a full solar eclipse,
and recalls the teachings an important Buddhist lama (monk)
had given me the previous day (no joke, folks!).

verse 1:
I can't see your one eye for the other
I'll never clear my thoughts, now, of my mind.
Compassion without focus, our suffering denied . . . .
. . . . soft, cool, clear, and kind . . . .

verse 2:
Believing in my self I cling to that I ought deny,
I try to clear the stars, now, from my eyes.
Stream of unconsciousness, our thoughts have been belied. . . .
. . . . warm, clean, free, and wise . . . .

verse 3:
Solid matter broken down to energy and space,
transcending focused wisdom leaves me blind.
Don't abandon senscience, but leave the rest behind . . . .
. . . . hope, fear, dream and lie . . . .
